What Refugees in Trying to Come to the United States

Coming into the US as a refugee is a difficult job. Before they are examined closely, they first need to be registered in the United Nation Refugee Agency, which selects the families that are most in need of immediate help (its not hard to imagine what the standards used by the UN Refugee Agency is like).

Once selected by the UN Refugee Agency and then picked by the United States, the refugees go through intense security screening led by the FBI and Department of Homeland Security, which takes three or more years to complete. For refugees who are in danger, this is process is quite slow.

When this process is finished, they prepare to resettle in the United States through the Resettlement Support Center, which helps them with security issues and helps them resettle. Refugees are usually placed in states that have communities that speak their language or with family or relative that have come before.

They then prepare to leave their prior residence to come to the US, during which they have to promise to pay back the travel costs. They also attend a class of what to expect in the United States.

Does this process sound tedious to you? Keep in mind refugees are people trying to flee domestic violence, and the competition to enter the United States as a refugee is enormous. But despite the increasing people in need, the Trump administration has cut back the promised 110,000 refugee intake from the Obama administration to just 18,000, decreasing the chance of these people in need getting help further.
