Government-Caused Interruption For Refugee Aid

Although governments around the world have the duty to guarantee its citizens their human rights, governments are sometimes against aid because of political reasons.

Such was the case in Myanmar. During the military regime, the Myanmar government has denied most international humanitarian groups that attempted to aid the Rohingya, stopping much need aid to keep human rights from getting to the victims of violence.

Similarly, political motivations have also affected those in Uganda yesterday. The Ugandan government suspended 75 percent of refugee aid organizations for not abiding by their rules and giving aid to people that the government did not authorize. Activists say 1.4 million vulnerable refugees in East Africa will be affected by this lockdown.

I want to pose a question at this point: Is the fact that refugee agencies helped unauthorized citizens more important than the lives of so many people?
